why has it been such a bad year for recruitment?
by: QuestionIn previous years sororities barely even did COB or if they did it would be super lowkey... this year pi phi and aopi both did it right after formal recruitment and now three sororities are having a public winter rush, what’s changed? Are people losing interest in the Greek scene and too many girls are dropping?

Most sororities try and have an ideal retention of 95-100%, and most at western do. But sororities are also a lot bigger now (90+ ppl). Back when they were smaller and 5% dropped, it wasn’t worth it to COB 1-2 girls, but now when 5% drop theres 4-5 spots, so its more worth it to have a COB class/winter rush

There’s nothing wrong with doing COB / winter recruitment. For most sororities it happens every once in a while especially when large pledge classes graduate. But when a sorority has to do it every single semester for years you can’t deny it reveals some issues with member retention.
