relationships between sororities irl

by: Future Stang

Hi, I have accepted my offer to start at Western in the fall and I'm really excited and interested in joining a sorority there. I've been looking at this website and it seams like there's a lot of competition to be "top tier" and bullying between the houses. Some of the things I've read are so rude and honestly make me question whether I should join or not. I was just wondering if it's really like this in real life (like you can't be friends with people not in your chapter and people are hostile towards you if you're in different houses), and if the animosity seen on this website is actually present in real life?
Thanks!

Def not like this irl. Almost everyone has good friends in multiple other sororities - it’s weirder if you don’t. There’s some irl pettiness around competitions like derby days and frat sweethearts but this website is really just a couple bitter trolls hiding behind anonymity. Sorority life is so worth it and no matter what house you join, the Panhellenic community is more fun and supportive than it is petty in real life!

A lot of the stuff on here is exaggerated, especially the hate, to bring other organizations down and make them look bad. IRL a lot of people are friends with people in other organizations. Go though recruitment and you’ll be fine.

Never take anything on this website seriously, everyone joins the sorority that feels like their home and obviously that is different for every person. In real life, most girls are secure with their choice and are kind to one another- a lot of us even live with other girls from all different sororities and there is literally no pettiness haha. Don't worry, going greek will be the best choice of your university experience.
