inclusive/discriminatory frats?

by: Bear

I am a transgender F->M western student that is interested in greek life. Which fraternities are known to be most inclusive and would be interested in what I have to offer?

Ill be straight with you, most organizations have bylaws on the books that stop them from taking trans people. You might have luck with Kappa Sigma, beyond that none of the established fraternities will take you.

This comment is extremely rude, discriminatory and transphobic. Any chapters that have bylaws that prevent them from taking transgender individuals would be unlawful as they discriminate on the basis of gender expression

Not how the law works there champ, the Ontario Human Rights Commission views fraternities as a Special Interest Organization, as we are serving only men, and sororities only women.

Hey there "champ"! The Special Interests Organization exception allows to fraternities and sororities to limit their right of membership to people identified by a code ground. That means if your organization aims to serve men, and your membership requirement is that an individual must be male, then you cannot deny such membership on the basis of an individual identifying as male. Sure you can deny someone membership if they do not meet other criteria, but don't try and use technicalities to further your transphobia :)

I wouldn’t listen to the above comment, fraternities shouldn’t gave policies about not allowing people who identify as transgender into the fraternity. I can’t really say which ones would be most accepting, but I would come out to rush in the fall with a friend and talk to each of the frat booths so you can get a better sense of the guys in each chapter and form your own opinion. Greek rank isn’t the best place for any information. I’m sure any chapter would love to have you
