non panhel sororities

by:

Hey guys! I’m going into my first year and I want to join a sorority but I’m scared I won’t be able to afford a Panhel one... is joining a non Panhel one really as bad as people make it out to be?

you can always try getting a payment plan so that way you don't have to pay for everything at once. you usually pay one half of your dues in first semester and the other half second semester.

It depends what you're looking for with your sorority experience. From what I know, non-Panhellenic sororities only mingle amongst themselves. They don't mix with other sororities or fraternities and very much keep to themselves. Keep in mind that Panhellenic sororities will disclose their dues during rush, whether they offer payment plans or not, and you can probably make a more informed choice then. Not all sororities dues are the same amount, sororities without houses are often cheaper too. It's worth going through formal recruitment to explore your options :)

Hey! I’m in a sorority. Like others have mentioned above usually all the fees will be talked about during formal recuritment and I think each sorority offers payment plans fo make things more affordable. I wouldn’t personally recommend joining a non panhel “sorority” since it’s more of a club and they aren’t really associated with the rest of greeklife. But of course, if you just want to make some girlfriends, give it a try. However I definitely recommend going through formal recuritment before making any decisions!
