The Greek scene at Western took a hit two decades ago when interest waned away, but starting in early 2010s it has started to come back in a big way. Currently we've got around 1500 Greeks (about 3% of the school populace) and almost 2 dozen Greek organizations of which a solid dozen have set up good roots and will stay around for a long time. The Greeks have the most school spirit on campus and most fraternities at least have contacts within the London nightlife that permit them to claim a local club as their own (though they still visit other clubs, they receive VIP treatment at the club they associate with). Most of the fraternities are fairly successful at throwing large parties and they regularly compete to show who can provide the most community service. The city of London isn't very accommodating for Greek life since to put up letters on houses requires a house to be rezoned as a fraternity/sorority housing unit and large parties frequently have police presence on the street of the party. That being said, the Western Greeks have made their scene work very well and as the current generation of Greeks graduate and go out into the working world, they'll become more influential and their chapters will gain more leverage with the city. In 20 years there will likely be an official Greek Row for Western University, the Greek Orgs. that have set up roots here will be comparable to their associates down in the USA, and my evaluation of the Greek scene here will be completely wrong. That's a guarantee I'm willing to make.

Western has the second best Greek scene in Canada. Western is most definitely the best party school in Canada which leads to the Greek scene playing second fiddle. Greeks here party but it’s a relatively young Greek scene in comparison. UBC is 1 cause of their better Greek - school relationship and nicer houses. Western shares association with parties of any kind so they stray away from frats.

Western is a party school with solid academics. Bigger Greek scene than expected, especially for Canada.

Western has the closest thing to American Greek life you will find in Canada. The Greek population concentrates the hottest girls/guys from our University and allows them to mix and throw unreal parties. The Greek scene also allows people to come together to bring a lot of good to our community, and give back through philanthropy. All-in-all the Greek community at Western is the best you will find in Canada and is an overwhelmingly positive experience.

The Greek population at Uwo is rising. The numbers for formal rush this year were amazing and I expect them to keep on rising. The sorority houses are beautiful and most of the frat houses are great but could use some work. They are very involved with each other’s philanthropy events but it would be great to see more campus involvement. Their have established great connections with each other and that makes for a great Greek social scene.
