how much does money matter in w&l greek life???
by: InNeedOfInfoHi, I'm a prospective student and W&L is a top choice of mine. However, I've heard from a student at W&L that sorority rankings & whether you are accepted at a sorority depends wholly on your family's wealth. How true is this?? Are Greek life girls nice regardless of your family's wealth, or is it a big factor in whether they will be friends with you / accept you at their sorority?? Just wondering---I don't want to go to a school where all anyone cares about is how rich you are.

Family wealth is by no means the only thing that greek women focus on during recruitment. Some sororities don't look at it at all. Others, especially those with social climbers, unfortunately do take wealth into consideration. However, so long as you don't wish to be a part of that crowd, you'll be fine. Being in a sorority does cost money (about a $1k or less each semester) so you would have to have that in order to continue to be a member. Most if not every sorority have members from all socio-economic backgrounds.
