going greek

Have those of you that joined a fraternity/sorority always found support from your brothers/sisters when you needed it the most? That seems really cool and invalauable, forming strong friendships with people that may just end up attending your wedding someday, wow

I graduated a few years ago, but I maintain close contact with many of my sisters, and many of them will be in, or attending, my sorority sister's upcoming wedding, including me. She is marrying a USC guy who was in a frat and many of his bros will be groomsmen or otherwise attending the wedding, also. FWIW, they are perfect together and so happy (they did not date at USC, they connected later). I just went back to look at this site as a lark, but I suppose the "take away" from this is that they were both in so-called middle tier frats/sororitys. They both made strong friendships in the Greek system, obvi. If you TRULY want to make life-long connections with friends, I think you should look at the mid tier orgs, rather than the so-called top tier orgs. I "preffed" a mid tier sorority over a "top tier" one for this very reason-- to hopefully have life-long friends --- that we'd watch each others' backs (and have fun together rather than worrying over our "social standing."). Haven't regretted the decision, and love still getting together with my sisters for birthdays, whatever!
