rushing (a fraternity)
by: jumpmanFrom what I've heard and read on different forums and this website, it seems like I shouldn't make assumptions about fraternities regarding tiers/reputation and simply wait until the actual rush events. But at the same time I'd rather not waste my time(nor their time) vying for a bid from a house that wouldn't typically give out to someone like me. Can anyone on here describe what some fraternities are like at sc?

I am going to assume you are a real person who wants real answers. So here you go.
Frats like Phi Psi, TKE, Sigma Chi and Lambda Chi do things with the "top" sororities. They are large and have lots of money. Joining one of these houses means joining into established success. Phi Psi and TKE are more organized and ambitious. Lambda and Sig Chi are more complacent. Don't expect to change the world or make a difference here. Do expect a good social life.
Frats like ZBT, Sigma Nu, Phi Delt, Beta, Fiji, Pi Kapp, Phi Sig, Pike, Sammy are all very different in terms of the types of guys, social standing (some are upper middle tier, some are lower). But they all aspire to be better. They are all working to get better and want to get better. Some are more successful than others. You can make a difference in one of these houses.
Frats not mentioned, imo, either do not care about their standing on the row, are alternative type frats, or have given up trying. You can have a good time in houses like these as well, just don't join them if you want prestige or social validation from the org you join.

Thank you! I originally was planning on not even considering rushing any of the top four, but seeing TKE mentioned as ambitious- I was wondering if it'd be good to just check it out anyways? I'm wondering if me being a minority means I should probably stay away from any of those top ones.
Also as far as intramural sports, would you be able to tell me which of these fraternities have generally been good at basketball or f football?

Not to mention that Greeks secretly worship satan. During initiation they swear allegiance to him. They only want attractive and athletic people to breed the perfect servents. Money is to promote power and control over god's people.
