rushing as a recurring sophomore?

by:

I am really disappointed with the choice I made on preference night and regret it completely, so I am waiting the 6 weeks I have before initiation and then deciding whether I want to drop or not. I still want to be in greek life next year though, and hopefully in the house I should have originally chosen or any other better house than the one I'm in now. I have many friends in sororities ranked above mine, including the sorority I should have chosen on bid night. What are my chances of getting a bid as a sophomore who has already rushed with friends in many houses? Are sophomore quotas a real thing?

you sound pretty ungrateful, maybe you don't realize you are where you are supposed to be yet

I hope you're right, but that doesn't answer the question

it gets harder rushing when you're older. the hardcore truth is that there will always be someone with a better personality, better background, and younger who would want to invest their full 4 years in a house than a girl who is older and only wanted that house for it's popularity

Truth.

No it's because I don't feel like I connect with my pledge class as much as I do with the pledge class of the house I should have chosen

If the house that you want dropped you during rush this fall, you will most likely not receive a bid from them the next time you rush either. They know who has gone through recruitment before and who they have dropped and who dropped them. The older you are, the harder it is to get a bid. It won't look good that you accepted a bid from a house and did not initiate. A handful of girls re-rush every year and are disappointed when they receive a bid from an even lower house.

What house do you wish you'd pledged, and then I can give a better answer.

Okay, I think you have a shot! The ADiPis are a nice group of girls, most of the so-called "middle tier" houses are. What a lot of girls don't get, but you apparently do, is that there is a lot more "sisterhood" in the middle tier houses, where you can make and have friends for LIFE. My mom was in an middle tier house and she and her friends still get together at least twice a year, communicate frequently, etc. I asked you what house you wish you'd pledged bc if you wanted a "top" house the first go-round and didn't get it, it's very unlikely you'd get it the next time. I know a girl who, a few years ago, wanted Kappa, didn't get it, got Alpha Phi. So she re-rushed as a sophomore, didn't get Kappa again, but the Alpha Phis gave her a bid again, and that time she accepted it. Hope this was helpful. If you let your friends in ADiPI know now, that you wish you'd joined their house, they may be more like;y to give you a bid next time, so "feel them out," but in the meantime, do try to give the house you're in a chance and see how it goes...

If you made it to preference and didn't join the first time they're not going to take a risk on you a year later when now they can only get three years of dues instead of four. Sorry :(

What influenced you to make the choice you did at preference?

Also just because you didn't choose them doesn't mean they picked you... Could be you were on their bid list but there's no guarantees.
