why are sororities calling and emailing me?
by: Incoming Freshman - PNM
I won't name names but I have gotten several calls and emails from two different sororities in the last few days. I thought that was dirty rushing?
I'm not returning the calls because I'm not interested in either house.
Shouldn't somebody stop this?

Hi girls,
I wanted to apologize if my first post came off sounding threatening, as it was by no means meant to do so. As Panhellenic, we are here to protect you all as PNMs, not punish you. We do take dirty rushing very serious, as our mission is to create a fair and honest recruitment, which dirty rushing puts in jeopardy. When I said that it could get more serious, I meant that if we (PHC) don't find out about these things happening, we can't do anything to stop them. Thus, when we do find out about them (which is almost inevitable later on) it will have only continued, probably to more girls, and gotten even worse. As mentioned, PHC often hears about dirty rushing when it is too late- last year it was after the PNM got dropped from the chapter she had been in communication with and she didn't understand why.
I recommended you email our president because she was on PHC last year and has dealt with similar situations before. You will not be in any kind of trouble, nor will your recruitment experience be compromised in any way. However, if you would like to send the email anonymously, that is totally fine.
Lastly, as far as the emails saying that your information was provided by USC Greek Life, the sorority recruitment leaders have access to the information on your recruitment application as they have to know who is in recruitment. They know they are NOT allowed to contact PNMs AT ALL, even if it weren't "official rush contact".

I got contacted by "middle tier" house and another girl from my high school was contacted by one of the "upper tier" houses. Why are sororities apparently making choices before they actually meet anyone in person. FB stalking is not getting to know someone. Sure, she may have better pics then me but most aren't even her.
It should be a level playing field for everyone. Everyone deserves a chance at a upper tier house. It is truly wrong that sororities are already making selections based on fake FB pics.

It is amazing how amateurish you young people now run SC sorority rush. Rules are broken by nearly every house and PHC does nothing but blame the pnm. It sickens me that at prestigious university such as USC with a long tradition of strong Greek organizations has descended into joke it now is. I learned today that USC doesn't even have a full-time administrator assigned to oversee sorority rush as has been the case for the last 40+ years. It's being left to the teenage bimbos to run. I predict a disaster in the making. I predict heads will roll after a Fall rush that will be plagued with rule breaking and more foolishness the likes SC has never seen.

To clarify, when I say she was dropped, that means that the individual chapter (the one that had been dirty rushing her) did not invite her back to the next round, not that we as PHC punished her. She was really upset, because the emails and messages made her feel like she was a shoo-in. As I said, we want to stop dirty rushing so these kind of things don't happen this year.
