rushing without connections
by: PNMHow hard is it to get into houses when you don't have any connections to girls in any of the houses? I am the only person in my high school to go to USC in a really long time and don't know anyone at the school or in the area.

I know a good amount of people from my high school that are in USC but none of them are Greek. The ones that I know who are Greek have already graduated. I heard that the top sororities like DG mainly just use connections to get in and all of them are from Newport. Are connections really that important if you're not super hot/wealthy?

Sorry, unless you are going middle or lower tier. Then nobody cares what you look like.

Don't listen to "Smart PNM". Connections to people in sororities are by no means necessary, similar to letters of recommendation. While it could be helpful to have a friendly face to say hi to, the point of recruitment is to get to meet the girls in the chapter and see if, based on those connections, you feel it's the right one for you. When i went through rush, I knew a girl in the house i ended up joining, but didn't talk to her once during recruitment (we just waved hi as I was walking inside).

I really think it only helps if you know the active really well (enough for them to fight for you/try their best to get you in the house). A lot of girls know people going into recruitment, but don't necessarily know them super well. I wouldn't say you're at a huge disadvantage without connections as most girls don't have super strong ones going in. Just trust that you'll end up in the right house for you. Good luck <3

honestly speaking its pretty difficult. a lot of people come from areas and schools where a huge number of people go to USC and are in top houses, so those actives often end up vouching for the people they know well instead of the ones they kinda/sorta liked when they talked to them. I was in the same situation as a freshman and found that was the case. In the end however, i got a great house and am so happy where I am now. People say this all the time but rush really does have a way of working itself out. Keep a positive attitude towards it and you will do fine! :)

You guys (below) don't even sound like Smart PNM. She would say that no one cares what you look like, even the Kray Kray Girls. Just look at their PC '14 pictures on 575 Productions website.
