I am interested in rushing, but I was wondering if it is harder for girls to get into sororities if they are from the East Coast?

Definitely not! If you look at the thread asking about having connections, you'll see that they aren't a huge deal, and that's the only reason why it would matter where you're from. There are tons of girls in my house that are from all over the East Coast.
