There are real girls with real problems and you shouldn't be making light of it.

I'm sure there are girls in every house who suffer from eating disorders, because they are real women who have real problems. It's not fair or at all accurate to stereotype and say that any particular house is more or less likely to contain these problems. Please don't make light of something so dangerous and scary.

A friend of mine joined Kappa, and they totally shamed her into losing more weight. Now she barely eats, except a few bites of vegan crap. We can't even have a "meal" together anymore. Sad. I've known her since we were toddlers.

As a fellow eating disorder girl, I would say just trust your instincts with a house. EVERY house on the row has girls going thru body image issues currently and those who have survived them. My sorority (which is actually one of the ones you mentioned) really helped me and supported me with my eating issues. I would be hard pressed to say ANY house on the row would pressure members with former eating disorders to lose weight. This is real life - not an episode of Greek.

Thank you for posting this. I know for a fact that every single house will worry a ton about girls who aren't eating and who are sick. When it becomes bad, every. single. one. (yes, even Kappa and DG) will call you to a really private meeting (and they won't tell anyone else) and try to help you, whether that means getting you into treatment, therapy, or even getting your parents involved if your life is in danger.

People seem to forget that the girls in your house will be your SISTERS. They are your best friends and your greatest allies in the fight against eating disorders and mental illness. They want nothing more than to help you and to keep you around for a long time because they love you. NO house encourages eating disorders. Yes, some are generally thinner than others, but that's true of all the top houses.
