i live in the south and I'm coming to USC and i was wondering how well off is well off according to sororities who care about that kind of thing? i drive a nice car and my dad definitely makes good money, and i think i wear nice clothes. what do they consider "having money" basically at usc? for sorority recruitment.

please don't say "if you have to ask then you probably aren't"

At least 500k per year. My parents make 300k between them and I feel poor/middle class.

How do sororities know that kind of stuff? Like how would they know if your dad makes 500k+....>

Your insta, where do you travel where do you party, is your hair/makeup on point, etc. USC is a school for privileged kids to start with, and sororities are even more monied. This isn't Dixie where sororities are about being society ladies. Sororities here are about hot, attractive, rich girls who like to party and live the good life. Think Rich Kids of Instragram and Kate Middleton in her pre-wedding days. There are actual Rich Kids of Instagram and nieces/nephews of billionaires in Greek Life here too.

Don't know why you'd wanna be part of a house that only cares about how much money your daddy has

Also from the south (definitely wealthy but my enormous house in Atlanta is probably worth as much as a crappy house in some nice LA areas) and it's really not that hard to fit in. There will be girls in your house wearing Valentino to everything, but I'm essentially cut off from my parents and manage to dress semi-luxuriously with nice clothes and makeup that I buy and people think I'm loaded because of the way I dress. You don't need to be super rich, just dress yourself well, and I imagine you know how to do that being from the south. As for what people generally consider rich, I'd say your ~average~ sorority girl has parents that bring in 300k.
Good luck with rush!

You will feel poor here. Come from a similar background on the east coast. Don't expect to be thought of as well off here. It's not a bad thing but just expect it.
