smu transfer

by: Transfer!

I'm currently a kappa kappa gamma at smu and I plan on transferring into usc next year. Will I have to go through an initiation process or something like that, what exactly does transfer re affiliation into kkg entail?

Why don't you just contact the USC Kappa chapter directly and ask them?

KKG at SC is considered by most to be the most exclusive of all sororities at SC. I'm pretty sure Santa Monica CC doesn't have a KKG chapter.

Please read entire thread. I'm not the one that refers to SMCC as SMU. Those were DGs and not me. I only repeated what they said.

Thanks!

I checked with our national website and there is no KKG chapter as Santa Monica CC. In fact, there are no sororities at SMCC. This person is obviously a fraud or a troll.

I know several SC DGs that finished their degrees by attending SMCC to save money. They referred to it as SMU. I'm not the one that needs to save any money on my degree

Smu as in southern Methodist university in Dallas!

You need to explain this to my former DG roommates in West 27th that call Santa Monica CC, SMU. Why anyone would live in Texas is beyond me. I'm still not sure KKG has a chapter in Texas. If they do, I'm sure they are great girls that chose to live in Texas.

Thanks for attempting to clear this matter up.

While you may've been misled by your former DG friends (who would start at USC and finish at Santa Monica City College... unless they flunked out?!?), I immediately knew OP was referring to Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas. It is a very competitive school, as are Rice, the University of Texas and others in Texas. While I'm a native southern Californian, I like Texas. Candidly, are you very smart to dis Texas and not even know what SMU is? I DON'T THINK SO. How did you manage to get into USC, if you even go here?!?

My ex DG roommates did not flunk out. They needed additional classes to graduate and it was significantly cheaper to take classes as SMU (as they called it) and transfer the credits back to SC. Funny, I believe they both graduated, one lives at home and the other manages a Starbucks in Orange County. I always felt those credits from SMU (SMCC) probably are a blemish on their resumes.

As for Texas, I have been in both major airports on my way elsewhere. It's hot, muggy and flat as a pancake. I suppose if you like that sort of place, you are welcome to it. You never hear about anything important coming out of Texas. Just a lot of conservative mumbo-jumbo, racism and bigotry. You keep your Texas and I'll keep my New York, Los Angeles and Miami.

Racism and bigotry exist everywhere, even USC. Just go to the Row on the weekend and you will see racism and bigotry in full force.

Totally agree^^^ Cali is amazing but you shouldn't diss texas. It's a pretty cool place and people don't get to choose where they come from? There are a great # of really competitive schools in Texas

Well, since you've been in both of Texas's major airports on your way elsewhere, you are clearly an expert on Texas and your views should carry great weight. You and your ilk are what make people think Californians are airheads. I think Miami is calling you...you can probs land a job managing a Starbucks there, like your DG friend.

I never said I was an expert on Texas. You ever notice that people are always from Texas, never moving to Texas. I never met one person that says they want to move to Texas. I'll bet if you did a survey, most people want to live in Manhattan Beach or the Palisades and very few say Texas. Seems to me most people don't want to be there and would rather be here or some other place with more culture, art, fantastic restaurants and interesting people. You don't get much culture in a place where everyone drives a pick-up truck and works in the dirty oil industry or for Walmart.

As for Starbucks, I'll be sure and leave a little something extra in tip jar when you finally get my latte just right.

The whole point of this topic was to help someone get some answers for a question she had, not to hate on texas. You need to stop wasting your time on this site and go do something productive. You havent even clarified if you are currently a student at usc so your opinion is irrelevant.

Of course I am a current student at SC and member of what most believe to be the top sorority. Maybe you need to prove who you are and that you are a current student? Maybe you need to take your own advice and find something productive to do. I am glad there is a new Starbucks going in at the old Del Taco for you show up at on career day. If that doesn't work, how about a bus ticket to Texas?

Her narrow-minded and downright stupid comments are why people don't like Kappas. She knows NOTHING about Texas-- Austin is a hugely fun, happening place with a lot going on as are Dallas and Houston. Yes, it can be hot and muggy, but so are Miami and NYC in the summer. Not to mention its effing freezing in NYC in winter. "I don't think so" is a moron, and this is coming from a native Southern Californian who loves it here but also has an appreciation of, and knowledge of, other states. Sorry, OP, not everyone at USC is as unenlightened as the Kappa chick who responded to your post.
