God, you guys are rude. And I sound condescending? Ha!
I know there are girls in the houses I want, who could override my friends in those houses and therefore drop me. I know rush will be stressful even for someone with my advantages, and yes, I do have quite a few.

Oh, and heads up to all you guys who think your house is the best and we all want to be in it....

Kappa should know that lots of the girls they want would pledge there, but know they won't like it, they just admit to do it for the "name." How sick is that?

Theta should know that, especially among my friends, you don't have a cool rep. the girls I know in your house are not cute, and were not popular in high school.

DG should know that yeah, there is alot of hype about you guys, but your reputation is kind of grotty. The guys say lots of really nasty things about you.

Pi Phi should know that the cool, very laid-back girls who want you are not going to be all that involved in greek life. They just want a fun house.

I won't disagree that that is the LA local perception going in to USC. So are you still only primarily interested in a Top 4 house, despite what you have just said? Or are the LA local types also looking at Alpha Phi, Tridelt, ADPi, etc? Because it sounds like you are well aware that the top 4 aren't entirely what they're cracked up to be, but would only choose those 4. Just curious

SO TRUE. Except Pi phi isn't that great...

Here's what I know. In LA, OC, and NorCal, girls from certain families are expected to "rush well" and that still means a "name" that has meant something to my parents @ g.parents for like half a century. My cousin goes to CAL and she got into a top 2 house. There are only three good houses there so it's scary. My friends that are rushing there this year are very nervous. At least at SC there are 4 totally acceptable houses to join,so your mom and her mean girl 50 year old friends won't gossip about you all over town about how you did not rush well. I PERSONALLY would never pledge the houses you mentioned below. It would be considered a "bad rush" and I would never do it. I don't know any girls who have rushed the 3 houses below, not here or any school. I don't want Theta but if I had no choice.. but I do know girls in DG, Pi Phi, Kappa that I really like so that makes me think I would like the house, fit in. We all know the houses that matter, at ALL schools, not just USC.

You sound absolutely ridiculous. Who CARES what your 50 year old mother's friends are saying; if you are centering your life around adhering to their "standards" and unfounded elitism then you need to grow up, and hopefully college will do that for you. Particularly since the order of houses at USC is slowly shifting, being stuck with such a rigid elitist attitude is not only snobby and off-putting, but it is becoming increasingly unreliable as the "Top 4" starts to fall apart and other houses rise (some think Pi Phi and Alpha Phi are equal now, for instance).

If you are putting that much pressure on what SORORITY you get into than you REALLY need to set your priorities straight. And if truthfully, your mom and her friends are still so concerned with a petty popularity contest, then they are extremely immature as well.

USC is not some southern school where your letters are all there is to you. If your sorority rank is the most important thing going for you, you are truly pitiful.

haha exactly.
your sorority rank will last as long as you are in school. it doesn't matter after 4 years... unless people have CRAZY parents like the ones you describe, who would actually JUDGE their children for not being in a "topl" house. that sounds preeeeetty stupid and i feel sorry that your mom and her friends would actually think different of you based on some silly hair-splitting popularity ranking, as you describe, because that's really sad.
the houses you mention are awesome. but getting into one won't make people think you're any prettier, nicer, smarter, etc. than you already are. you'll just get to wear their letters.
i don't think you mean to but you're coming across as very snobby and immature.

Actually, where I'm from, your sorority lasts forever. I completely get what "Why" is saying. My Mother still goes on weekend spa trips with her sisters, and she is 49! My 56 year old aunt is still very involved with her alumni club. They are not bad people, but their sorority seemed to define them and still does. I know lots of girls who would say the same thing about their Mother. Thank God I'm in a house that I love and my family thinks is wonderful. Yes, it's a top four house, and it's a good thing, because my family called me everyday for updates. So yeah, you wither get that mentality or you don't. Tons of girls here do, cause they are in the same boat I was in and good luck to you, 'Why' I hope it works out for you. Try not to get an ulcer between now and rush. :)

I can actually understand the family pressure thing--wasn't my case, but I could see how that would suck. But what if you were dropped from those houses? Wouldn't being a GDI be worse than...an Alpha Phi or ADPi? And if you found a girl you loved in...Tridelt, who you could see being your big, would you choose Theta (let's just say, because you said you're iffy on them) over that? All things considered. I know the Top 4 rush well so you will feel like you have a connection at any of those, so my question's pretty hypothetical, but let's just say you have an amazing connection with [Tridelt, etc.] would you pick that over a Top 4 you don't like?

Damn straight. The rankings below you are wrong, but who cares? The incoming girls know the houses the want and the ones they don't want at all.
