I'm a freshman and didn't rush due to demanding major, but this is what I've seen from the pledges in my dorm:
AChiO-- pledges have either dropped or resigned to being an AChiO
ADPi -- pledges seem happy to be there, feel welcome by the upperclassmen, good sisterhood
APhi -- one has dropped because she said APhi didn't support academics
DDD-- so big it's hard to tell, some seem happy, some act like they wish they were something else
DG -- pledges seem happy to be there, feel welcome by the upperclass
GPhi -- one has dropped and wants to re-rush next year
KAT-- pledges seem happy to be there, but one girl dropped because she felt Theta didn't understand the
demands of her major
KKG -- pledges are proud to be KKG, but the ones who went through FR aren't friendly to the one who received
snap bid (she might de-pledge)
PPhi -- the partiers are happy to be there -- one who wasn't a partier has de-pledged because she felt it was
over the top wild
SDT -- don't know any

AChiO: pledges who couldn't afford it dropped, but majority stayed seems like and they all seem happy
Adpi: some girls dropped due to financial issues, nice and welcoming
APhi: heard about the whole not supporting academics thing too, but they like to party and are fun !
DDD: so big, i dont know. i know some dropped because they didnt like it and some absolutely love it
DG: mixed reviews, heard from a pledge that she heard, after initiation, all the upperclassmen get meaner
GPhi: seems to have fallen from when my sister went here, lots of friends dropped
KAT: seems to be chill and pledges love it
KKG: got a mixed bunch when they snapbidded
PiPhi: got caught dirty rushing so that hurt their pledge class, but everyone in it loves it
SDT: don't really know much, except that they are off the row

Make sure you're basing your opinions on 2012 (or 2013 if you go to SC). Some of the comments on here are based on eons ago before SC admissions became "highly selective." Frat rats base opinions on hotness and now these girls have to be smart, so the hotness is less than in say 2000, but the guys still expect the girls to be hot air-heads. The guys aren't the face jocks they once were either, but they forget about that. because they too have to be smart to be at SC. It sounds like you know the storied top "4" -- but that too is changing (Pi Phi is being chased by APhi and may even be tied). Just so you know -- this year the pledge classes for Kappa/DG/Theta/Pi Phi look like this: 1/4 is legacy, 1/4 knew a bunch of girls in the house already, 1/4 comes from a prestigious family. That leaves only about a 1/4 that gets a shot at these houses during recruitment. These houses are required to cut heavily after the first round, so most of the girls going through recruitment (even with good recs) don't even make it to 2nd round. At pref night -- most of the same girls are going to either DG/Kappa/Pi Phi/Theta.

so wait...going back to the question about sisterhood. do any of the top tiers have good sisterhood? dg and kappa are clearly at the top but seem to have bad reps. are they tight communities though? im not gonna be involved in a sorority if i feel like i have to watch my back in my own house...sisters should look out for each other imo

This seems to actually be a really accurate snapshot of the sisterhood of each
