what does "fit" mean?

I got a call from Lambda and Phi Psi saying that I'm not a good fit. What do they mean by "fit?"

Is it just a nice way of saying they don't like me, or that I'm a goober or not cool enough for their house?

Simple your not a facey dude, both those frats have tons of facey guys and tend to recruit based on that persona.

Basically they think you suck. "Fit" is an nice way of saying go away.

Yeah, that's basically what I thought. The whole process seemed extremely superficial, and I saw guys from Phi Psi pulling aside girls asking them to point out which rushees they found most attractive. I can't even say I'm disappointed, because the whole thing seems to be really shallow.
