It's amusing that USC academics don't even compare to UCLA, Caltech, or Stanford. How is it like attending such a scum school?

Does anyone even try to say that USC is at the same level as CalTech and Stanford.....?

htt p://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/ran kings/national-universities
Stanford is #5
CalTech is tied with Dartmouth for #10 (Must point out that CalTech doesn't really work for Business and Liberal Arts type people)
Cal is tied with Georgetown for #20
USC, UCLA and Carnegie Mellon are tied for #23 (there aren't any schools at #21 or #22-- the way US News deals with ties).
So basically, Cal, USC and UCLA are all rated virtually the same. At Cal and UCLA, you're just a number though. As a private school, USC gives its students more personal attention, that's been my experience anyway-- Profs always available to meet with you during office hours and the like. Perhaps you're mad bc you didn't get into USC or they didn't give you a big enough financial aid package for you to be able to attend? Anyway, all of the schools in question are unquestionably highly selective, terrific schools. Go argue with US News and World Reports if you don't agree.

Doesn't change the fact that no one cares about USC outside of Southern California.

If you think that USC doesn't have a strong presence outside of Southern California, you are either delusional, jealous, or both.

USC may not be on the same level as Stanford or Caltech, but it's been steadily improving these past few years. This year's acceptance rate was 17.8%. Do you even go to one of the schools you listed? I'm willing to bet you don't...

....You mean liberal arts colleges...? The top ones are better than USC, although USC is not a "scum" school.

No, my high school was about 2000 students. Still, way more students than many of the colleges on the Forbes list. How many clubs and extra curricular activities can a college with less than 2000 students offer? Obviously Dartmouth and Johns Hopkins are great schools with a terrific reputation and can offer a lot, but a small "college" as opposed to a larger university, clearly cannot offer the same breadth of majors, extracurriculars, etc. Perhaps some commentators here have different definitions of "better"-- I wanted to go to a large university with a full range of majors, extracurriculars, etc. Oh, and my parents could have sent me to a private high school, but as my public high school is top rated (with many students accepted to super selective schools) and offers just about every AP class that exists, there didn't seem to be any point to going to a private high school.

That's beside the point. Like that kid pointed out, they're ranked 78th and have no name recognition outside of Southern Cal. Just admit it, it'll make you feel a lot better knowing you can't compete with the Berkeley/Stanford's of your state.

No one answered the second part of the question, how is it attending USC (which is clearly not a scum school). Not that the troll who created this post wants a serious answer, but I love USC! So much available to do in LA and on campus. Profs happy to talk to you, its up to you to go to their office hours. Great athletic programs and teams to watch. Great selection of classes. And getting back to the point of this site, a very strong Greek community that besides having fun does a lot of philanthropy.

OP said "How is it like attending such a scum school?" Bad grammar, should have said, "What is it like attending such a scum school?" OP probs didn't get into ANY of the schools under discussion. You can just imagine how OP's essays read. How tough is it to come up with two short, grammatically correct sentences? Too tough for OP, apparently. That is all. USC rocks.
