most underrated sorority?
by: pnmI'm going to be a freshman in the fall and I want to rush, and after doing some digging I think I have a pretty good idea of what most of the houses are like and how they rank, but I'm interested to know what people really think of girls in each house outside of general reputations. Like, who are the girls who you'd genuinely want to be friends with/hang out with, what houses have the girls who are the most genuine and drama-free, or what sisterhood would you want to join if you had the opportunity to re-rush?

being in a sorority, i'll try not to be as bias as possible. please do keep in mind that every house has good and bad people and you'd have a great time in any!
i'd probably want to be friends with theta, alpha phi, adpi and axo. possibly gamma phi and tri delt. the first four i mentioned seem to like each other a fair amount and while i have friends in every house that i love, they seem to have sisterhood. so it'd be a toss up for me which one of those 4 i'd want to join. all the houses are wonderful though! its all about what you make of the experience.

I rushed my freshman year, but didn't end up pledging a house for personal reasons. Based on who I met while rushing, however, I found Gamma Phi and Adpi to have the best sisterhood and the girls who you would actually want to be friends with. I have some friends in both houses, and they nothing but good things to say about their sisters. They're also really cute and fun, and from what I've heard, both have really good social activities and reputations on the row. Whatever house you end up will be the one meant for you! Good luck!

Good advice here! I did more than one group project with GPhis and they were very sweet, friendly and SMART. I also had group projects with some "top" sorority girls and they were late to group meetings (or didn't show up at all) and just figured the rest of the group would do their work for them. I like Gphi and ADPI girls. GPhis seem especially "on it" and involved on campus. My 2 cents.

This isn't about upper/mid/lower. I already know what the tiers are generally perceived to be. I just figure I can go to any party and be friends with whoever I choose anyway, so the social tier of the house I join doesn't matter that much. In the end, I want a house that feels like home--I don't want them to pick me just because I'm pretty and can help their social game. Like I don't know if "Sorry!" is a guy or a girl or even if he/she is in a house, but saying stuff like that makes the upper houses sound really undesirable, to say the least.

I like the way you are thinking too. Honestly though, you'll get a good idea of this during rush. I went i not knowing anything about any of the houses, and figured out right away which ones didn't have strong sisterhood. While I could have made it into a "top" house- I'm so much happier where i am because of the sisterhood. My sisters are going to be the bridesmaids at my wedding and best friends for a lifetime. Thats what i was looking for and I was able to find it- so can you :)

'Perceived' Sisterhood:
SDT-extremely close
AXO-extremely close
ADPi-very close, a few cliques
APhi-very close, a few cliques
Theta-very close, a few cliques
GPhi-very close, a few cliques
TriDelta-seems to be a lot of different types of girls, still nice to each other
DG-picks a lot on looks, but girls make friends
Kappa-picks a lot on looks, but girls make friends
Pi Phi-girls make good friends here, but as a whole don't know a lot of each other
This ranking is only a view from the outside, can't be confirmed in any way. I hope it was helpful, but go into recruitment with an open mind.
IDK bout AGD... Dont know any.

I have to agree with the people up there saying the top houses are harder to find a strong sisterhood in.. one of my friends in a "middle" house was walking around campus one day, and a member of a "top" house came up to her and asked why she hadn't been around the house much. basically, the "top" house girl thought she was talking to one of her sisters.. I know houses like ADPi, Gamma Phi, and Tri Delt are much better at knowing their sisters
