most and least expensive sorority?
by: TrojanI'm interested in rushing in the fall but I'm concerned about sorority dues (I've read that they range from $1500 to $2500). Does anybody know roughly which sororities have the highest dues and which ones have the lowest? Also, are there a lot of hidden fees involved when you join a sorority? Thanks!

Highest to lowest (live-in) [$4,840 - $3,613]:
Pi Phi
AXO
Alpha Phi
Theta
Kappa
Gamma Phi
Delta Gamma
TriDelt
Alpha Gamma Delta
ADPi
SigDelt (no house so rent is separate) is under $2,000
Live-out dues are all under $2,200 but you have to pay rent somewhere else on top of that. The above is rent AND dues, and usually a certain number of meals too.
Bottom line though, the cost difference (especially paying per month) isn't huge between any of the houses. If you can't pay for one, you can't pay for any of them. If you live in, it's cheaper than university housing and many of the options around SC, so you won't really be losing anything - some girls even SAVE money.\n\n\n\n\n

The posters have given you a good idea on what dues run. But there are many more costs-- gifts for your big or little sister, costumes to wear to the themed events (no matter how creative you are, you usually end up buying something), buying stuff with your letters on it, really there's quite a lot of extra stuff/costs.

Panhellenic RC's will provide you with a list of dues that breakdown new member, live in and live out fees. Just ask on the first day and don't be scared because the sororities won't know if you asked or not. They want you to be able to afford their dues because if you drop for financial reasons you just take a spot from someone else who would have been great
