What happened at UCSB this weekend could have happened anywhere - USC included. I hope everyone is reaching out to their friends and family members and even acquaintances who attend UCSB and offering whatever help they can.

In the grand scheme of things, how popular your house is or how well known you are on campus means nothing in a world where the pull of one trigger can end everything. I hope we can all remember that and realize that saying negative things about each other behind the cowardly anonymity of the internet is a sad, sad waste of time - time that could be better spent in so many wonderful ways.

I'm not religious, but I'll say it. Prayers to the students of UCSB. Prayers to everyone whose life has been affected by this horrible event. Prayers to everyone who has ever and will ever struggle with mental health issues.

How dare you imply that the lives of innocent people are more important than mentally stunted people bashing each other in a middle school popularity contest.

It's called Greek Rank, not Blowhard Blog.

Kudos to OP for a well-written, compassionate post. As to those sorry losers who dissed your post, they are just that-- losers. Their lack of feeling and connection to others will catch up to them. Their superficiality and utter lack of empathy or any scintilla of human caring/decency will not serve them well. I truly hope they are not USC students, their comments are just shameful. As to it catching up to them, my uncle heads up HR at a mid-sized company. While grades and extra-curriculars are important, he prizes character above all and so instructs his staff, etc. They can sniff out the DB's, trust me.
