legacy going through rush
by: High School
So I'm in HS and probably going to SC next year. I'm a legacy to two houses (MOM and Grandma - different houses), and two aunts to two other houses. So I have very strong connections to four SC houses. I have heard that being a legacy can actually hurt you unless your family member is really super high up in the National Organization. Do you suggest just not admitting that I'm a legacy? Just going through as if it wasn't the case? Any suggestions would really help.
p.s. -I'm not comfortable saying the names of the sororities because I don't want to be remembered in Rush.

Don't list legacy info on USC recruitment registration form. Other houses cut you b/c they assume you'll pledge legacy house. only list legacy info to the legacy house -- they don't care if family member is high up -- only a few people can have big positions. Btw you aren't a legacy to your aunts' houses for most sororities although they may be able to pull for you. You are a legacy to mom's, grandma's. Most of the people aren't very helpful on here in case you haven't noticed.

Some sororities do purposely drop their legacies. I honestly don't know why. I think it is a subconscious way of sending a message that they are really competitive. The sorority I'm in dropped some really cute legacies and took me :) Weird, but true. I would think twice about telling anyone I'm a legacy unless your mom, aunt or Grandma is a National Officer.
