We need to do better.

If you are truly trying to improve your chapter, the best way to do that is to BE INCLUSIVE.
Kappa you are not doing enough.
DG you are not doing enough.
Pi Phi you are not doing enough.
Tri Delt you are not doing enough.
GPhi you are not doing enough.
AXO you are not doing enough.
Theta you are not doing enough.
APhi you are not doing enough.
ADPI you are not doing enough.
There is not a single chapter who has shown any growth during the 2021 Spring recruitment. Having one or two POC per chapter, one or two girls who aren't upper class, one or two girls who don't use social media and one or two girls who aren't the same size as the rest of your sorority is not enough. Appointing a DEI/EID chair/committee is not enough when that chair doesn't do anything but serve as another as a "reputation-booster" for your sorority.
As a member of the Greek community I am disappointed with not only my chapter but every other one on the row. None of us are doing enough. To all the PNMS who don't fit the mold of typical sorority girl and were disappointed with rush, know that I was too. I'm appalled with pledge classes across the row and deeply sorry that I could not have a louder voice to make sure you all got the happy endings and houses you wanted. Every PNM is told to trust the process, but that is incredibly hard when the process is meant to work against you. Your RCS won't tell you this, actives won't tell you this, and even alumni won't tell you this but I will. You can't trust the process because said process is for lack of better words: rigged. Houses know exactly the kind of girl they want and while there's always an outlier or two each PC, those who don't fit the mold don't make the cut. Many sororities are unaware they're even looking for a certain kind of girl which makes it sadder. They're unaware of their own bias and that makes it so hard to change the recruitment process. I hope within a few years Greek life will finally become a place where all PNMS feel welcomed and excited about but 2021 recruitment has shown we have a long way to go.

maybe the problem is greek life and USC itself and not exactly the improvements and reforms of greek life. if it wasn't going to be a better rush even with DEI and greater social consciousness because BLM, then what did you expect was going to happen? a bunch of wealthy college girls at one of the wealthiest universities with zero wokeness in their bodies. if greek life wasn't reformable during the normal year, then what did you expect?

to the people who disliked this could you please comment why. because i’m confused the initial post said “houses know exactly what type of girl they want” but at the same time said “many sororities are unaware they’re even looking for a certain kind of girl”. while they do make good points these two statements contradict each other...
