I don't think anyone would choose USC over an Ivy but I do think that USC kids have more spirit and personality.

I know at least 5 kids, including myself, who chose USC over ivies. Reasons vary, but it happens. Ivies aren't the end all unless you wanna go into finance or something like that.
In my case, I applied to Cornell, got accepted and chose USC because it's better for my major.

I might have chosen Stanford over USC, but who wants to be on the East Coast - weather, looks, culture way better in CA

Yep this is true and we are also hotter and in better shape so these Ivy League kids really don’t stand a chance
