i'm unhappy in my sorority?

by:

On pref night I was pretty happy with both my sororities. I preffed one and the last few weeks I just haven't felt like I fit in. There were four other houses I also really liked (including the one I didn't pref) and now I feel like I just made the wrong decision. Should I drop and rush next year? I would be a junior so I feel like the odds would be against me but I just look at my friends and they're having so much more fun than I am :(

give it some time. also, you're not going to get a bid your junior year. that's just not going to happen. my house, which is considered top, only accepts 2-3 juniors a year, usually stunning ones that never rushed before.

Not true about the junior year bids. Panhellenic requires that all the houses take juniors. The quota each year varies between 3-11 per house. Maybe this poster's "house which is considered top" only accepts "stunning ones that never rushed before" but that's only one house.
However, I agree that you should give it some time and give it all you've got before you quit :)

I'm sorry you're not happy :( I think a lot of people feel that way at first. Trust me, Facebook pictures aren't an indicator of how much fun your friends are having, so don't feel like you're the one missing out just based on things like that.

I say keep trying until initiation. If at that point you still feel the same way, drop before initiation so you won't be committed to a house you don't LOVE forever.

In the meantime, make sure you do everything with your house. Go to every Monday Night Dinner, go to every mixer, hang out and study at the house, eat all your meals at the house. I guarantee you will meet some great girls, because the houses here are so big that anyone could find a best friend in any of them. Good luck!

Kappa always takes Juniors. In fact, a Jr. was in last years's pledge class and she had pledged Theta (but dropped) as a freshman.

There's also a Theta who had pledged (but dropped) Kappa her freshman year.

Let's be realistic it is not like she was in Gamma Phi and then dropped and pledged Kappa her junior year. It was one top house for another, both with pretty different personalities.

I'm considering transferring and rushing junior year, how would that affect my rush chances?

I get your supposed elitist, snobby point but not everyone cares about ratings/tiers as much as you apparently do. I had DG and Gamma Phi for preference and I preffed GPhi, felt I made a great decision, love my house and am now a senior.

Go hang out with the ladies at greekchat then, they like that kind of stuff. This is greekRANK a site where ranking is in the name. I am glad you are happy with your decision. But in reality it is going to be hard for a junior to get in any house. I was just stating that the person switched from one top house to another. Most likely that person is a different candidate than someone who is coming on this website to find out about recruitment as a junior...
