I think people are finally realizing how much they all hate each other and how absolutely terrible their personalities are. I feel kind of bad for them, but then I remember how horribly they treat their members and have to laugh.

Haven't seen pictures of this year's pledge class, but general consensus is that they swept last year and tied with Kappa for Fall 2010...

i agree w/ IMO's 2nd post. theta really did do surprisingly well, although like someone else said, not as well as kappa...but ALMOST. Between Theta and Kappa, the row was definitely swept, though theta took a lot more randoms.

Kappa did well, but I feel like also because people expected them to do poorly because of what happened last year with the snap bids. They did on par with how they usually do minus 2012.
Theta was on par with how they usually pull. They have a few standouts, but in general many average and cute girls this year! TBH, theta just honestly has the same kind of girls every year, they dont really fluctuate, they go for different kind of girls that the other top houses do, so its not usually a problem for them.
DG did very poorly this time around. Perhaps it was because the pool of girls this year was not as hot as last year, or perhaps it was because they rushed badly, but theyre pledge class was definitely mixed with randos, and people who could be in lower tier houses. I hear it is because they didn't seem to have a veyr strong sisterhood this rush around
APhi is an interesting case. I think the entire row is watching aphi verrryyy keenly, because they have become a new threat. They surprisingly rush very well. Expectations for APhi's pledge class were generally high, because of their pledge class last year. While their pledge class was good, I feel like there is also room to improve. not bad, not amazing, pretty good.
Pi Phi did.. ok. Going into rush, I feel like many of the other girls had rather low expectations for Pi Phi bc of past years, and they got an ok pledge class in regards to what people expected of them. I think they are a little worried, and hoping for PC14

So in general, this year's order IMO seems to be:
Kappa
Theta
DG
APhi
Pi Phi
Tri Delta
ADPi
Gamma Phi
AXO/SDT

The thing with Theta is that it's never been - and never really will be - competition for any of the other top houses because it occupies its own niche that is very specifically THETA. A girl is either a Theta or not. And that weird little niche that Theta occupies ends up getting a pledge class that is seriously all over the place when it comes to looks, generally with a few total stars and the rest girls who could easily fit in a lower tier house. It seems like Theta isn't really competing with Kappa/DG/Pi Phi for the same girls, save for a very select few.

Anybody that hasn't pieced it together...the pledge class follows the junior class with DG/Kappa/Theta.
Last year, DG swept rush. The DG junior class swept their year too.
This year, Kappa swept. Their junior class swept their year, whereas DG's was weak that year.
Seniors don't care, and sophomores suck at rushing because they have never done it before. Every year you can predict how a sorority will do simply by looking at their juniors.

Yes, it follows... Juniors do the rushing (in other words PC 11 is rushing PC 13)
Kappa swept PC 11 and PC 13 (they had the snap bid prob in 12)
DG swept PC 10 and PC 12 NOT PC 11
Thetas are consistent year after year. Always strong -- rarely #1 b/c of the type of girls they rush, but probably always #2.
Kappa and DG are either #1 or #3 depending on the year. This year Kappa #1, Theta #2 (barely behind KKG) DG #3, Pi Phi #4 (they stepped it up!)
Soooo, the top 4 remains the top 4 at USC and will remain this way for eternity, just the order may change.

After the way pi phi has been rushing the past 3 years? I don't think so. Nobody wanted pi phi after pref. that's why so many girls cried at pi phi bid night. If a girl preffed at DG, kappa, theta, or Aphi, she put pi phi as her second choice. Most girls rushing this year saw it as a top three anyways not a top four

Pi phi is so middle tier with the girls they have. I wouldn't compare pi phi with aphi. I would compare it to tri delta

Which is honestly why Kappa/DG/Theta debates are dumb. Guys vouch for DG or Kappa depending on the girls in their year, which let's be honest, pretty much flip-flop. If they were in another year, they'd have a different opinion. Theta is always solid and never drops the ball, but never sweeps to the degree DG or Kappa does.
Pi Phi has been awhile since they absolutely swept rush (Fall '09 they and DG had the best classes), but honestly they consistently get good girls and are still a great chapter. They will be fine in the long run, they have a ridiculously strong legacy at USC.

I can really agree with this. I love half of Pi Phi and do not get along with the other half so I don't think I'm biased towards them...but they are easy to bash because of their OLD (like early 2000s) reputation of being crazy partiers (which come on, isn't exactly true IMO or at least not more true than other sorority girls anyways) whereas Theta has a classy/study with Theta rep which is harder to bash, but both houses do not generally have majority attractive girls. Top 4 is more about reputation, social mixers, history than how hot or not they are from year to year (or else Kappa and DG would alternate having 1000 mixers one year and 0 the next). If you ask someone from the 70s, 80s, 90s who the top 4 sororities are the answer would still be the same.
Which is good and bad...it shows that history is upheld at USC but also that not being a top 4 certainly isn't a bad thing...APhi and Tridelt have great mixers, ADPi has really sweet girls, Gamma Phi is really involved, AXO is improving, SDT has really sweet girls with a close bond.
I will say that Theta definitely hasn't changed in personality, but Pi Phi definitely has. But to call Pi Phi not top anymore while ignoring that Theta is 80% could-be-lower-tier and 20% stunners is a bit much

Just to answer the "who had the best rush?" question, not the best PC or anything, totally from my own experience of course...
I know Convo Days can totally depend on who you talk to, but I felt like the girls I talked to at DG were gorgeous but I didn't get much personality, Kappa I had a really friendly, easygoing conversation, Pi Phi and Alpha Phi I really felt like I wasn't being recruited and was just having a chill time, Theta was a little too sweet in some way (which I guess goes with the "either you're a Theta type or you're not"), Tridelt was at first rough around the edges in conversation and then I talked to a really funny/chill girl, my girls at ADPi were not great at conversation/it was really forced and awkward, GPhi was on one hand laid back but I could feel them judging me (which I know is the point but still), AXO I didn't get anything from, and SDT girls were really friendly and funny but nervous.
I liked Pi Phi, Alpha Phi, Kappa, Tridelt, GPhi, and SDT just in terms of conversation.

pi phi has had a bad pledge class the past 4 years. its sad. didn't you hear about how during pref they had to accept girls they didn't want because everyone preff'd other houses like kappa dg theta aphi? they even cross preffd girls in gamma phi. sad.

DG swept both last year and their senior class. DG has had one awful rush (2011) and I haven't seen enough of this year, but obviously they didn't do as well as Kappa. Still, two years they swept. Kappa I think has had three great years and one flop. Kappa still wins, but DG has had some amazing pledge classes. So has Theta.

Pi phi had a worse pledge class than tri delt. Whoever posted that is obviously in pi phi. Girls were crying on bid night bc they had a terrible pc. Guys were talking about it during 28th st
