junior bids?

by:

Rushed as a soph last week and was dropped by all the houses I liked by the morning of pref. I tried hard to connect with the two I was left with but it just wasn't working, so I dropped.

I'm totally heartbroken because I loved a few of the houses so much, and I want to try again next year, but ill be a junior then and I don't know if they'll be interested. I know Panhellenic makes them fill certain quotas for juniors, but one of the houses told me they only took 2 juniors (I'm assuming the required minimum) last year. How many juniors rush? What are my odds of getting in a good house as a junior? Are they usually friends already with everyone in the house or does someone with few friends in the house stand a chance? I heard letters of rec don't matter, is there anything else I can do?

AGD is decent at colonizing, so it could turn out okay

What do you think will make it different than Sig Delt? Are they nationally just a lot stronger or?

well for one, AGD plans to have a house - not sure if by fall but they say spring. i mean don't expect it to be like an amazing house...that just doesn't happen with colonizing (at least not for a few years). also it has a lot more chapters than sig delt and i know some schools where agd is middle to upper middle tier, that's why i think they prob know how to colonize more successfully, just my opinion

I'm interested to see what happens. Younger girls forget SDT started out with a house on the Row. I think joining as a freshman at AGD would get the best benefits at this point.

To the OP who wants to join as a junior...by the time the house has any established traditions, the physical house is finished renovating, and the house finds a real "personality" you'll be already graduated...for freshman it would be most worth it but to the OP...it's very likely that whatever you disliked about either AXO or SDT (where you preffed and went to informal with one of them right?) will only follow you to AGD.

agree that freshmen would probably have the best experience but as for sophs and juniors they might as well do it too because even if they're gone by the time alpha gam "settles in", the experience would still be better than being a gdi for two years. worst comes worst it won't have the stigma of being the bottom house because that's spot's already been taken (well, there will always be people in top houses who think any house below them ain't shi-t but you know what i mean)

There's always room at the bottom being a baby squirrel. My cousin goes to Chapman, the closest chapter of AGD probably and it's a bottom house. Sorry but you can't just snap your fingers and get the coolest, hottest, smartest girls to come out of the woodwork they're already in the top 5
