petition to start second row

by: Just Wondering

There were three girls standing at university and 28th today with clipboards trying to get people to sign a petition to start a second row north of 28th.

They said it would improve parking and safety for everyone.

Did anyone else sign the petition? Who is behind this and where would this new row actually occur?

They've got it backwards. 1. Plan an additional row. 2. Whomever can builds jawdropping palatial mansions with swimming pools and parking. 3. Lets the rest take the old houses/lots on former Row. (See Alabama's new buildings.) At Alabama though, the U owned the land, tore down old dorms, provided the loans for building. Not something USC admin would probably do.

Well, as to who was/is a part of this awful, divisive plan, I can only think of one girl who would cite Alabama as an example--because she went there for a semester.

? This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Are you going to have a beauty pageant or something to determine who stays or goes? What a hateful, elitist thing to even think of. So- you plan to just take things from people who aren't as wealthy, selfish, and beautiful as you?

You don't seem to understand what is a simple plan. The middle and lower tier houses will sell (not give away) their properties to the adjacent top tier houses. The funds paid will be sufficient for the purchase of land and construction of new facilities on the new row.

Spreading the row out will make thing much safer and more convenient for all.

With new facilities, the middle and lower tier houses will likely attract new members and may rise into the next tier which benefits all!

Why don't you just build your own fabulous new facility on your projected second Row with lots of parking-- since you're saying its going to be so great? And as been said before, there are some VERY small frats with small memberships that have houses on the Row-- why haven't you targeted them, for your parking expansion plans? Why are you so fixated on moving sororities? Of which there are far fewer than frats on the row? Go away-- you are the antithesis of Greek and Panhellenic unity!

This whole parking thing is either a troll who's dragged the joke way past the point of being anything but annoying, or the even more sad possibility that it's someone being serious.

Agreed! Sadly, given how much posting has been going on about promoting this ridiculous idea and that ppl have posted that the promoters have had girls stationed around the row/campus trying to have ppl sign their petition, this girl and her buddies appear to be serious. SAD.

What is truly sad is all the anger and hatred being directed toward me and others that want to make the row safer and more convenient for all.

Haha this whole thing is a new low even for Greekrank. You could get a million signatures and it wouldn't do a thing legally to make any of the "lower tier" houses move, and in fact would probably piss them off and make them more unwilling to do it. This is like hearing about a cartoon in real life. Greekrank trolling turned into real life idiocy.

It wouldn't be so hard to get the lower tier houses to move. If they got new kick-ass houses they would probably be pretty happy. It that doesn't do it and as somebody mentioned before, just move the food first and the girls will follow...

No, you just want to make the Row "safer" and more convenient for your own sorry little butt.Your air of self-entitlement stinks. And you've never said why you are only targeting sororities (even the mid and lower tier sororities presently on the Row have pretty high membership numbers), as opposed to fraternities with low memberships (lots more of those!), for your Row ghetto plan. Go away, Miss Eichmann/Speer. Ugh! You are just so destructive and awful.

The fact that you are specifically targeting houses that you feel are "lesser" than your own is the problem most people here are having. You claim that everything you are petitioning to do will make EVERYONE safe and will benefit EVERYONE...but if you're so concerned with the needs of the entire greek community, why dont you petition your OWN sorority to move? for the great good right? oh no that's only if someone else you think you're better than will move never mind.

No one will be moving. No matter how many signatures you get most of these houses are owned by the chapters themselves. you're just being an a hole.
