why does theta calls itself a fraternity even they're

Why does Theta call itself a fraternity, when they only allow women? I thought that Theta is a sorority, not a fraternity. Is it an inside joke among Thetas to call themselves a frat?

The word sorority was established later after KAT was founded. The first organization to use the term "sorority" was Gamma Phi Beta, established in 1874
