can sororities see if you're on financial aid?

by:

During rush, are there ways which sororities can find out if you're on financial aid? And how much does wealth play into rush at USC anyway?

it won't make or break it. just a small factor

It matters, let's be honest, especially with houses such as Kappa.

My roommate was only dropped by one house and that was Kappa. She's on Financial Aid and worked on campus. She joined a sorority and loves it!

I know it'd matter a lot to Kappa and DG but what about other houses?

As long as you pay your dues, you're fine. Also, merit scholarships like Presidential and Trustee Scholar are NOT need-based. All top houses have these scholars including Kappa, DG & Theta.

I'm not really worried about being able to pay dues. I'm just wondering how big of a factor it will be during rush

Can anyone else comment on houses being able to see your financial info?? Paying dues won't be a problem, but that still really bothers me, since it seems something so personal. Also, do the houses really look and find your SAT scores and stuff??

The houses specifically do not have access to the records, but many well-ran houses have members who work in the financial office who have access to those records. Yes they will look at your SAT scores. Most top houses will not consider girls who scored under 700 on the verbal section.

The SAT scores you put on your rush app, or do they find the one you used in your common app? I'm not worried, I got 700+ in each section, but I'm just wondering as to HOW MUCH access they have to all of my information. It's a little scary knowing they can find anything they want

You can often smell the poverty on some of these girls....

It's just annoying because I'm not poor, I'm on financial aid because for the past few years my dad has been tying up our wealth in start-up company investment so we have less cash than usual but I mean I still act and spend like upper middle class so let's hope the Facebook-stalking of PNMs is more important than judging financial aid.... ugh

Your Daddy obviously doesn't love you enough to provide for a proper college experience. I hope you don't become a stripper!

I mean I'm by no means on full financial aid - it's like less than half. Is it really going to affect me that much for rush? Dues aren't a concern at all

Maybe you need to borrow money from a grandparent or some other relative? There isn't any sorority welfare at SC's top houses...
