Extremely strong USC sorority with a lot of tradition. They don't have as strong as a track record with the 20-30 absolute top PNMs that everybody wants (usually go DG or Kappa depending on year), but they get virtually everyone they want other than that.
If we are going to be cynical and superficial about it, each of the top sororities aims for slightly different things to give them their rep...
DG - Beautiful, outgoing, and social girls that will give them a fun reputation.
Kappa - Girls from wealthy and established families.
Theta - Girls with outstanding resumes, activities, and honors (think top scholars, athletes, international students, etc) that will give them prominence and prestige on campus.
As a result, the "superstar" PNMs are often sought after by all three, but after that the list of PNMs most desired by each house may vary based on the above priorities (which are rarely an organized strategy, more like "like attracts like" and cultures have differentiated to the point where one house's top PNM is an easy pass for another one).
In my experience, the "pro" is that Theta's strategy provides them with a very well respected and diverse membership and a much stronger than average sisterhood, but the "con" is that they often lose the absolute top PNMs to Kappa or DG, and they don't have as much of a "fun" or "party" rep as Kappa and DG as some people think they take themselves too seriously.
But absolutely not an organization that anybody would pass on being able to join. It's an extremely competitive, well respected, and historic sorority at USC that can socialize with any fraternity they want to.
