sorority rush

I have seen lots of comments/posts talking about how sororities take into account your wealth when you are going into rush... First of all, how do they even know how much you are worth? And how big of a factor is your wealth? Like if you have a good personality, looks, clothing, etc. do you still have a chance of getting a bid?

wealthy people can tell when other people are wealthy.. where do you live/where are you from? what are your interests? where do you summer? what do your parents do? we don't always ask explicitly, but it comes up 99% of the time....

You'll be fine. Yes, there are wealthy people in top houses but there are also upper middle class. Whatever you do, don't talk about money.
