why is this site so harsh?

forgive me for sounding naive but just out of curiosity, why do people here take so much pride in slamming one another...I see posts attacking other houses, or simply attacking anonymous strangers. doesn't seem right to me...

Row politics is full of vitriol and unnecessary drama, and this will probably sound "harsh" too but honestly there's not a very intellectual culture so the criticisms are shallow when you consider people are anonymous. I REALLY hope you don't take any of the stuff you read here as representative of USC. It's really not, just a subculture--- and by subculture, I don't mean all Greeks, but definitely a decent percentage of them.

Welcome to the real World!
There are lots of girls that should not be in a sorority but joined anyway. Now, filled with regret over her choice(or lack there of), she lashes out here at those houses above hers trying to make herself feel better. That is 90% of what you see and rest is that crazy Lambda Chi alumni clown who tells you there are voices in head stealing his memes.

The truth is most posters including the psycho above who posts as different people even answering his questions as someone else is not even a USC student or in the Greek system. 95% of the posts are from this same loser posing under 50 different names often bashing Lambda Chi. The other 5% MIGHT be USC students but don't believe anything on here as I said 95% of the posts and from this sad sad little poster that posts under 100 different name both as a fraternity and sorority member.

i wanted to join a sorority in the spring, and now am scared of the polarizing reputations they all seem to carry...
do the majority of sorority members even use this site? how do i even know which threads are accurate/valuable? :S
