the actual truth about the top tier
by: Experienced
For the curious PNMs, here's what really happened during rush.
Kappa’s pledge class had about 15 pretty girls. The girls weren't bad, I know a lot of Kappas and they’re great people, but many of them just weren’t stereotypically “pretty.” DG, on the other hand, did really well and got a pretty pledge class. Because of this, DG ended up being chosen over Kappa to most of the fraternity mixers. Occasionally, Kappa would get called instead of DG to mix with the fraternities. This is why people say they are equal on the rankings, because sorority tiers depend on fraternity relations.
As someone who is rushing again this year, here’s what I recommend: Don’t listen to Greekrank. Most people on here are just deranged or bored. When you rush, keep an open mind, only 15-20% will end up in 1 of the 5 top tier houses. If you’re dedicated to finding the top house, then look around during rush. Look at the girls rushing you, the girls rushing other girls, and the girls just walking around. The place where you see the prettiest girls is likely the top house, simply because fraternities will prefer them. Ask boys who go to USC about the houses, because they will usually be less biased than sorority girls.
Honestly, you will probably fall in love with one of the houses just because you will like the girls. In the end, sororities aren’t only about parties and guys, they’re about finding a great group of friends. Judge for yourself, and don’t let people on here tell you what to believe.

This is not true at all. A fraternity will pick a more prestigious house with less attractive women than a less prestigious house with hotter girls. This is why the middle/lower frats bend over backwards to have one random Tuesday wine night with the #1 or #2 house and then say "we mix with x" for a year rather than the houses they normally mix with. Because the top sororitys could care less about that mixer they send very few people and not their prettiest girls.
