girls about to go through rush...
by: SCSENYAAAAAA
Hi ladies,
I wanted to write on what to expect of rush and what sororities are "really" like, for girls like myself who came to SC from across the country, not knowing anyone or what to expect of each house. Inarguably, the top houses are Theta, Kappa, DG, and Pi Phi. I am in one of these houses and absolutely love it. There is definitely a certain stereotype associated with each one, but I don't see reason to tear any girls down for their house. What I would advise is to aim to join a sorority you truly enjoy and can see yourself being in rather than being in a "top" house. I know its extremely difficult to do, but going in with that mindset during rush made my experience SO much better. I had friends rushing with me that were initially really disappointed to be joining "middle-tier" houses, and it ended up being the perfect house & best college experience for them once they were open minded. The reality is USC rush is SO competitive and there thousands of girls competing for sometimes only 60 spots in a pledge class - and at least 70-75% of that pledge class is chosen weeks before you will even walk into those doors. So yes, it is actually important to clean up your social media, provide as much info about yourself as possible on your rush application, and generally present the best image of yourself possible that you would like to see beforehand - because believe me, a lot of girls get kicked out of the options off of bad GPAs, social media or terrible reputations alone.
