depledging/re-rushing

Hi! So I accepted a bid to a sorority that has a few lovely girls but was still one of my least favorites since we really didn't mesh that well. After spending the day with them it has really confirmed the fact that I don't feel comfortable within the sorority. I want to deplete but am not sure how/who to contact about this. Also wondering if it would be possible to rush again next fall and if so what my chances are of getting into a different sorority (I'm in second year now). Any input is much appreciated!!

So start off by contacting your recruitment counsler and tell them the situation. Also talk to your pledge mum, they'll be able to deal with it within the chapter. Please note that because you accepted the bid you cannot rush again until next years formal rush.

speak to the sororities recruitment chair or the president about it. Honestly though, I'd feel it out for a month before I'd drop. Sometimes a group can surprise you

same here. Certainly Re-Rush. theres no point spending so much money on a group of people you dont fit in with.

honestly, I would give it a chance. if you want to drop after one day, that is really rude of you. These girls CHOSE you to be a part of their sorority, and you should at least give them a chance.

that's very rude to say...the nm don't owe us anything...they shouldn't feel compelled to stay with a chapter out of obligation...IT"S THEIR CHOICE...

dear OP,

leave now, don't waste your time, go focus on school and other clubs...and try again next year with a fresh start...and don't ever feel you have to explain yourself or owe anyone anything...

if a sorority didn't choose you once, chances are they aren't going to choose you the second time around.

people on here make me sick. members of DG or any sorority are more than looks. well rounded, accomplished, inspiring, outgoing women are what DG recruits.

If they didn't chose you, it might because the girls in that chapter now find other girls rushing are better fit than you, or the system won't let them have you. These are problem that rerush/wait a year can help resolve and it's not they cut you once they will cut you forever.

if I re-rush next year won't it be awkward going through a tour at the same chapter? and I feel like other sororities won't be as open to bid on someone knowing they depledged another sorority

why not use it for you: It shows your strong interest in the chapter, and your determined personality :)

As what previous comment has said, we dont own them anything; and it doesnt mean they are bad. It's just we dont connect with each other, and we make choices.

yes it'll obviously be awkward because you will be having recruitment conversations with girls who know you don't want to be there and that you are just going through the motions to get to invitationals and bypass the sorority u dropped. however, you have to selfish and do what is best for you. if that means 20 minutes of awkwardness to find where you belong, its so worth it. once you get past that room you'll be fine. the life changing results definitely beat that awkwardness.
