recruitment doubts/worries/fears
by: PNMI'm really stressed out/worried about recruitment right now...I don't know if joining a sorority is really for me, and don't know who to talk to about it. Did anyone else have doubts going through? What changed your mind or made it worth it for you?

Hi PNM!
Aww you sound so scared. It's okay. We all have nerves through the process. First of all, talk to your RC. Why exactly are you fearful? Why do you feel that a sorority isn't for you? Think about that last one carefully. Sorority women are of all types and personalities and there's a fit for every girl in one chapter at least.
And just general point for life. You will never be 100% sure of anything, be it the career you do, the person you end up with or in this case the chapter you choose. Doubt is inevitable.

I would say still go to invites/pref whatever you have left. If it's just the idea of being in a sorority that makes you uncomfortable this huge change, keep going. I know I'm quite shy and it took me a few months to settle in but now I have zero regrets. If you genuinely feel uncomfortable about joining then maybe try again next year or in the fall

When I first joined my sorority I was super doubtful, I was nervous and scared that I wouldn't fit in or that I would be too stressed out with time commitments, but formal recruitment makes everything look more intense than it is. In the end were all just people who want to make friends, be pushed to reach our goals, and have a blast. And you will find this in every sorority. Make sure you choose the one you feel most comfortable in, instead of basing it on any one else's opinions. I was so close to dropping out, and now I can't imagine if I had lived last year without my amazing support system. Good luck to you, I hope you find your home!
And remember, you're not stuck. You do not have to stay in the sorority right after bids day, you can still drop out after then if you're not happy.

I joined last year! I was VERY doubtful for about the experience for a while, even though I am absolutely obsessed with my sorority. Find what interests you, be involved, go to parties, volunteer with your sisters, take on a leadership position! Make the most out of it, and if it doesn't feel right you can always drop. Give it a chance, and enjoy the process, you will be fine <3
