yes, and no.
I'm in a "top tier" sorority, and last year we let go of a lot of "good looking" girls for many reasons (mostly if they are stuck up).
Yes, being pretty does give you an advantage cause you will stand out, but it does NOT guarantee that you will be invited back (to my sorority, at least).
A tip for PNMs = don't make the actives do all the talking. I personally hated it last year when I had to ask all the questions and carry the conversation. Even if you are shy, try your best to be involved in the conversation.

that's not all they recruit on though. they're pretty diverse.
at least i would say sig is. but i think beta kind of moved away from their "jock" image this year..
