sorority dues
by: ?i'm considering rushing next year, but i'm a bit reluctant because of how expensive sorority dues are. on top of that, i've heard that there are fines and that you still have to pay extra for formals etc... could someone clarify this? thanks :)

It is expensive, but it's worth it.
They'll also work out something for you if you need it, you can pay monthly or something instead of all at once.
Not all sororities have to pay extra for their formals/semis.
The only time I've been fined was for not paying my dues on time and it was only like a $15 fine. If you're pretty responsible then you shouldn't need to worry about being fined!!

Hey! For new members it will be around $1000 a year and then go down to around $800 a year for the remaining years. Most of the sororities I know, the dues include all fees including formals and semi formals etc. I don't have to pay any extra on top of that in my sorority and I'm pretty sure it's the same for the others :) and honestly, it's worth it because the experience is amazing ❤️ Good luck and hope you choose to go greek!

New member dues are about $1000, active are about $800. Some chapters have completely inclusive dues (your semi/formal ticket, any shirts, and philanthropy events ect) some do not. Most chapters have you pay for semi and formal dates separately but those are totally optional. Fines are usually attached to mandatory things like paying your dues or attending a few mandatory events. Finally if you can't afford it please don't rush, it's not a small amount of money and if you join, don't pay, and have to have your membership revoked then you'll be miserable and the sorority will be really upset as well.

It's not being a cheap ass. Some people genuinely can't afford it. Don't be so rude.
