As someone who went to residence Jumpstart and was an orientation Leader for commuter Jumpstart...
1. Residence Jumpstart costs a lot, but you'll have all the time in the world to make friends and adjust to UBC, which is great.
2. If you're a commuter, you can do commuter Jumpstart, which is much cheaper, but you don't get the same level of interaction.

I’d say it’s worth it even if you don’t make a lot of friends during it. Usually, there’s lots of events (parties, socials, club stuff, residence events etc) all going on outside of jumpstart that you’d wanna go to and jumpstart kinda makes it so your not alone during the adapting period. You get a feel of your people and you’re with a group of ppl who all wanna make friends and not be alone at events! Helps to get out and adjust

^ not at all! It sucks to come into first week and seeing so many events going on but having nobody to take with you. By the time first week starts, people have sorta collected their group of jumpstart or campus friends they take around so they’re not alone during the first few months. Most people drift from their first term friends, but it’s so nice to feel like you got a group of ppl to explore with tbh, rlly helps.

Rush DKE! Best house on campus! Especially when they barely put effort into their exchanges unless it’s one sorority, even overlap socials accidentally making sororities not wanna book events W em and an EDM playlist at all events consisting of their faves by David guetta! Run gentleman! This is ur opportunity!
