Recruitment tips

Go with your gut. Recruitment is hard because you’re very conflicted, the sororities get trained on how to talk to you, like it’s truly our job to gas y’all up and make you guys feel at home a loved even if we don’t like you. A lot of girls join sororities and they end up finding out they only joined cause of popularity and are having a terrible time, or the girls were just fake, or idk whatever reason. If you’re in any chapter room, get the idea of popularity or being pretty out of ur head, ur here to find ur people, not ur title. If ur in a room a hear a little voice in the back of ur head saying “I don’t like these girls”, “I feel judged”, “idk if this is the right choice”, listen to that voice and trust yourself.

I remember being shy when I first went through as well and that's okay! It can be intimidating meeting new people. I would say read up on the sororities beforehand and think about what about joining a sorority is really exciting to you! Additionally, talk about things you are passionate about - I find when you talk about something you love, it can be hard to feel shy - hope this helps.

Message girls in different chapters on Instagram before recruitment! I would go thru and look for more involved members (who have leadership positions, etc) and chat with them a bit before formal recruitment. Knowing some sorority girls before going in helped me feel way more comfortable even if I didn’t actually talk to them during recruitment. Just good to see some familiar faces! Just be careful about dirty rushing (ex if they are speaking poorly about other sororities, telling you why theirs is the best, etc... I would highly recommend avoiding these chapters!)
