sorority standards

are sorority standards really strict at ubc? i’m worried that by going into one i’m going to be giving up a lot of privileges... anyone have advice or info?

They’re nothing like how strict some US orgs are generally speaking. I’d say most of the standards rules are pretty basic (not posting frat party drinking pics, not posting super extra ass pics, being sober at affiliated events)

only know about for my sorority. no dancing on elevated surfaces, if you're going to smoke a cigarette you have to sit down and cross your legs, no shacking, no houndstooth, no selfies, some srats can't wear letters until initiation, 2/3 rule (either hair/makeup/or outfit has to be good), no crop tops

There aren’t that many strict rules. The rules they have make complete sense and you aren’t giving up much. For instance you can’t drink while wearing letters.

Most of the standards are rules that make sense and better for you in the long run - like don’t post with alcohol on Instagram and keep up your grades.
