reading the “whitewashed BIPOC” post on greekuntold , is it true that top tiers would only recruit international students if they were whitewashed especially brown girls. I’ve personally seen the difference in this years PC’s between alleged top and bottom tiers and I’m just so appalled...

yes. its awful but its true. in the top tiers theres barely international students in the first place and if there are they're very whitewashed. I've personally never even met anyone with an accent in the top tiers.

It’s usually just a bunch of girls from the same high school in the top 4 who know each other from before UBC.

Does not having an accent make someone whitewashed? Do you know every single international woman in these sororities? Do you know where they grew up, what their values are, what languages they speak, where their families live, where they consider home, what cultural practices they have?

Do you realize that by saying that the POC in these sororities are "whitewashed", you're dismissing their cultural identities (that you are unaware of), and basically saying "you're not coloured enough"? Do you really not realize that you're adding to the problem, and not fixing it?

I'm not saying that systemic racism does not exist at UBC sororities/greek life, but your argument is doing nothing but aggravate a pre-existing issue.

omg literally remember seeing a post on here after recruitment last year along the lines of why are there rich brown girls in the system, bring the whiteness back?

some of the frats are wonderbread white (lookin at you Sig and Phi Delt), but on the whole of it frats are pretty diverse
