Question about the chapter rooms

by:

So I was wondering what the whole deal about chapter rooms is, what are they used for? I heard you can’t drink in them so I don’t see the point.. are they all the same size or do some sororities have bigger or better ones? What are they used for?

All the rooms are almost the same size. Some weekly meetings are held in the chapter rooms and it’s just a place to hang out with your sisters

chapter rooms are used primarily during recruitment & sometimes for sisterhood events or philantrophys. Even though you can't drink in them a lot of girls use them as a comfy place to study on campus, or just to drop their stuff off if they are going to a frat event next door.

The chapter rooms are pretty big, they’re all on the main floor of the panhel building (next to frats) each chapter room has their own kitchen, usually a few closets, and an outdoor patio. It varies chapter to chapter but I think most have couches & chairs to hang out, a tv maybe, a big table for girls to study at, and more bench seating near the windows.

There’re all almost the same size, gphi and adpi have slightly bigger ones because they were the biggest chapters when it was built

In terms of drinking, it isn’t allowed in the crs. Sometimes sororities turn a blind eye to it for certain events but for the most part it is not allowed.

You need to re-evaluate yourself if what your most concerned about right now is not being able to drink in your future sorority’s chapter room.

They're used for recruitment, meetings, sisterhood events, lounge area, etc. Some sororities starting having meetings in classrooms starting a few years ago to accommodate bigger chapter sizes but with the the sororities being a lot smaller now than a few years ago I think most will probably have them in the chapter rooms again.

Like the frat houses, the chapter rooms are relatively similar sizes. Some are a bit bigger, and some are a bit smaller. From what I have heard, the ones on the righthand side (kappa, gamma phi, adpi, agd) are the bigger ones but the difference in size is marginal.

Hope to see you during recruitment!

So chapter rooms USED to be used for every sorority’s weekly chapter meeting, as well as sisterhood events, studying, big/little reveal, recruitment and other activities. But as the sororities got bigger and became like 100+ girls in each chapter the chapter rooms got too small to have meetings with the whole chapter in, and they switched to having meetings at other locations on campus. But all the other activities are still in chapter rooms

I think most chapters are only 70-80 now not 100+ anymore

So, chapter rooms aren't allowed to drink because they could lose their license from the building itself. But if you just want to drink in a chapter room, probably not the best decision to be joining a sorority.
