Diversity in the sororities
by: ThatsTheTeaI’m sure some sororities have a variety of criteria when it comes to picking girls to recruit but by the looks of it, it seems like the most popular srats are the least diverse. And if they are, they maybe have that one trophy black or brown girl to make it look like they’re not discriminatory. Those popular srats (and they know who they are) are looking very white washed and all I gotta say is I smell a lack of cultural competence for improving inclusivity efforts. Maybe this next recruitment y’all can improve on that because judging by all these posts, seems like their only image is defined by being the hottest which is a shame because srats already get a bad rep for being superficial and and institutionally white so there’s defs room for improvement. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Personally, I have seen so much diversity in sorority chapters at UBC??? What even is this post? Looking at the "top" tier chapters' social media, every single one of them has a strong mix of diverse girls??? There are criticisms to be made about financial barriers but I think this post is an extremely far reach when women of colour are welcomed, celebrated, featured on social media, and hold a NUMBER of leadership roles within their own chapters and Panhellenic Council.

There definitely are chapters that are more diverse than others, generally lower tier ones. Probabaly because of the stereotypes you mentioned of top tier sororities just being rich and pretty. People notice the same thing you did with how whitewashed the top tiers are. But to be fair, Kappa is improving, so is Adpi. Dg not so much. Top tiers usually do give bids to pretty girls, but I don't think they are selective based on race. Like you said there's always room for improvement but most of the girls I've met are inclusive.
