do people in greek life have a chance to meet with members outside of the sororitys/frats they usually have exchanges with? are there any common events or anything

also are exchanges only based on tiers?

my sorrority didn't have exchange w some frats but i actually made some of my closest frat friends at acf, parties, wet rush, and other greek stuff (pit, bims, etc). while you may not have exchange with every frat/sorority, you will meet and get close with more people than you count if you put yourself out there and talk to people at common events. basically if you want to meet people, you will, but it just requires being extroverted. as for tiers, they are always changing and while some chapters are historically close, things can turn around and you may have exchange with totally different chapters as your time in your chapter goes on! hope that helps :)

Philanthropy events and Rec sports teams are the biggest one I can think of where I met with guys from frats my sorority wasn't that close with. So going to a lot of those, participating, being friendly with people you don't already know - for both other frats AND other sororities - is the best way to meet other people in the Greek system I'd say. Also meeting people in class as well. There are common events like ACF as well where everyone is together. And also Rec sports teams with a frat is a great way to make friends that you wouldn't necessarily meet at exchange.

Technically all frats and sororities are supposed to have at least one exchange with each other at least once a semester and are not based on tier. I think the reality is though that the frats and sororities that are closest want to do their first exchanges or earlier exchanges in the semester with each other. as it gets later in the semester more and more people have a ton on their plates with school and fewer show up to exchanges, so even if you do go to exchange with a frat your sorority isn't close with there might not be many guys there if it's later in the semester.
