Why do the sororities not have houses. I just got back from Texas and they had huge ones.

finances mostly, our dues would be much higher and property around UBC is already established so kind of hard to make a sorority housing area, plus panhel building was made to make it fair for all the sororities to have a central place to meet

its also against BC law to have i think 6 or more women living in one house together cause its technically considered a brothel. thats a law from the early 1900's which for some reason hasnt been changed.

That's a myth. There's no brothel law. It's because our Panhel requires a sense of "fairness" between sororities - so even though a handful of sororities can afford them, we're not allowed to have them. It's unfortunate.

we're starting to look past the rule and we've started discussions with our advisors. id encourage all other girls to do it too. we need to get houses and we need them fast.
