need advice after not getting bid

by:

After the whole recruitment process I felt supper connected to one specific chapter and made it all the way to preferences. I really had the best conversations with these girls and saw myself fitting in there better than anywhere else. Obviously I put them down as my first choice but also included my second choice which I was not happy with at all. I ended up getting a bid for my second choice and basically had to hold back tears for all of the bid day celebrations. Girls from my first choice even reached out to me to say how sorry and upset they are and how sometimes the system just screws you. Would it have been better to leave my second choice blank during the choosing process? Is there anything I can do at this point? Is it even worth it to join my second choice when I know I wont be fully committed and will always want to go back to my first choice? Will it be weird rushing again next year?

You have already signed the agreement so I would just take the next few weeks to feel it out. If you still feel super connected to that one specific chapter then drop, and try again next fall!

from what I heard the reason some people got their second choice even after receiving a bid from their first choice because the panhel had to fill out spots for other chapters resulting in them being denied their first choice even after receiving a bid. Which suckS

It’s a numbers game isn’t it though? If she didn’t include her second choice she probably would have just not gotten a bid because that pc already had the max number of people to keep all pcs relatively equal in size.

But the girls that only put one get priority no? vs the ones that put two could be put into the second choice because of the numbers. Probably what happened here.

Panhel goes through an entire process and doesn’t care too much whether you put down one or two chapters to try and get a bid to. If you didn’t get into your top choice it’s because there’s a quota to fill for nms, and each chapter ranks you, and even if they wanted you, you weren’t ranked high enough and all their spots were filled. If you can’t get into your top choice that’s when they try to get you into the second which is why they recommend you don’t only put down one chapter.

Not to hurt your feelings but chapters rank you in order of how badly they want you. If you didn’t get your first choice it means they wanted at least 35 girls more than they wanted you. So sure some girls probably really liked you and reached out to you but if the chapter as a whole didn’t want you on their actual quota bid list they probably don’t want you..

I hope the person who downvoted this did it by accident because it is accurate af. Ladies, it might hurt to read, but this girl is 100% correct. Recruitment is competitive and sometimes feelings get hurt, but hopefully you can still learn to love the girls who picked you in the end. Plus you can always stay friends with girls you connected with from recruitment from other chapters if the connection really was genuine. :)
