How common is it for girls to actually choose to be in one of these chapters during FR than versus joining one of them because they were cut by the other chapters?

It’s actually very common. Despite how it looks on greekrank, a lot of people don’t really care about being top tier or the sorority ranks. Girls will choose Aoii agd and theta if their recruitment experience was the best in one of those three. Don’t believe everything you read on greekrank, half the time it’s the same few people posting to stir the pot.

Honestly wish this website didn’t exist. It not only clouds girls’ perceptions before they go into recruitment, it also makes them feel bad if they do end up in a chapter deemed “lower tier” on here. Then it’s a vicious cycle for those chapters b/c they struggle to recruit members.

Although obviously many people do choose the Sororities they join based on their experience in the rooms during recruitment, it’s far more common for girls to think the “need” to get into a middle or upper tier chapter because of GR then feel terrible about themselves when they get cut in Invitationals/Preference

It’s not a stretch to say the majority are cut by other chapters

When you go through recruitment and join a sorority, it's not about what "tier" you end up in. It's not about which fraternities you have exchanges with, or what formals you get asked to. It's about whether you actually want to be surrounded by that group of girls for the next four years you're in university. If you're surrounded by girls that are there for the sisterhood and to support each other and to become better people, then you will have an amazing time in your sorority and you will look back on it with really happy memories.

If you join a chapter that doesn't truly feel like "you" because you read stuff on GR, then you will always feel unhappy and you will drop before you even get close to graduating and wish you had never joined in the first place.
